Italian knitwear label Missoni has finally opened an LA outpost – a woven aluminum façade set on the corner of Rodeo Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard and designed by London- and Rome-based architects Kinmouth Monfreda. Built in Italy and shipped to California, the 700 sq m box – glass, steel and concrete beneath its cladding – glows from within at night. And, like one of Missoni’s kaleidoscopic garments, the interior is a seamless vortex of interconnecting spaces designed with what resembles a European shopping street running down the center, and side streets jutting off to the various collections.

Putting their best foot forward, Morris Selvatico create an effective concept store in Ryde.

Footpoint Shoe Clinic is serious when it comes to assessing their client’s feet. Footpoint’s unique “trac lab” system, a first of it’s kind in Australia, is integrated cleverly into the store design. This video analysing tool is a simple yet effective process that measures the performance and function of footwear to ensure the perfect fit every time.

Morris Selvatico were appointed to design Footpoint’s new concept store within the “street fashion precinct” of the new Top Ryde shopping centre development. The challenge was to design a retail experience that would enable Footpoint to stand out from their competitors and compete with the international brands in the adjacent stores.

Retail design just got even more exciting with the opening of the first Saxony stores in Melbourne and Sydney.

In the last two months burgeoning brand Saxony has burst onto the retailscape with the opening of two inspiring stores in Sydney’s World Square and Melbourne Central.

The store design was the vision of Saxony’s Creative Director Stan Wan, who worked with a team of professionals, including Interni and Stag Shopfitters, to execute the ambitious project.

Designed by renowned architect Nobuo Araki who has designed stores for brands like SOPH. and Base Station amongst many others.

Nike at Roosevelt Field is open now on the top floor of the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, Long Island.

Designed by Editorial, Pronovias flagship store is located in New York City. Created by Josep Riu associate architect, and Emilio Rodríguez-Martos from GCA Arquitectos Asociados in collaboration with in-house architect Desirée Mas and Kenneth Park Architects, the PRONOVIAS building, which is destined to become the flagship of the company, is located in the heart of Manhattan between Fifth Avenue and Madison, alongside Saint Patrick’s Cathedral.

The Galleria Department Store project had two main goals. The first was a new façade that projects a lively, ever-changing surface. In total 4330 glass discs are mounted on the existing concrete skin of the building. The glass discs include special dichroic foil generating a mother-of-pearl effect during the day. During the night, each glass disc is lit by LED lights which can be programmed to create a multitude of effects. The second goal was the renovation of the interior into a luxurious integrated design. Inspired by the catwalk the customer finds himself immersed in the world of fashion while moving through the generous corridors. The interior design focuses on the elimination of superfluous details and introduces new integrated Big Details.

Precinct 5 derives its identity from a partnership between Mr. Wix, Patta and MassiveMusic. The concept of the shop came from a unique collaboration of leaders and trendsetters in Amsterdam’s fashion and music industry. Under the management of DJ Mr. Wix, Precinct 5 carries sophisticated and premium clothing originating from pure street culture.

The interior of Precinct 5 was designed by architects Kuub, with a graphic identity created by Experimental Jetset.

The space houses brands like Enplus and Stüssy.

Alberta Ferretti Los Angeles, located in Los Angeles, was designed by Sybarite UK Ltd. Being home to the billion dollar entertainment industry, it’s no surprise that deluxe would be the order of the day in LA.

For the store, Sybarite developed a language of lightness and transparency, grounded by a sophisticated yet simple palette of materials to form the perfect backdrop to this collection. The key design features of the new flagship store in Los Angeles are the flexibility of the bespoke display system, the disciplined continuity of the palette and the skillful use of lighting to create an atmosphere that is as sensual, airy and ethereal as the clothes themselves.

Flexibility is achieved by a completely unique system of magnetic hangers and shelving which can be freely placed against lacquered steel panels(!). Composed of gloss lacquered fiberglass, these elegant full-bust hangers bring the clothes to life, showing them in their natural and volumetric form rather than limply two-dimensional. The freestanding elliptical rails are made from a new ‘black’ stainless steel, a technique developed especially for Alberta Ferretti. The ‘V’ profile of the rail disguises the hanger fixings and forms a crown under which the clothes appear to float freely.

Scattered throughout the shop are Perspex screens inlaid with stainless steel to which more magnetic hangers can be affixed. Lacquered petals and mannequins appear to grow naturally out of the floor in elegant compositions, offering additional display flexibility.

The choice of materials is restrained and deliberate. Quality speaks for itself and finishes repeat throughout, creating a harmonious backdrop of simplicity and continuity against which the luxury of the clothes can stand out. The hard surfaces of Perspex, steel, concrete, plaster and fiberglass are all polished or lacquered, the reflective properties enhanced. The bespoke stainless steel rails in smoky black anchor the design, balancing the softly layered grays of the remaining color palette. Clean and crisp, the polished plaster ceiling is unobtrusive, as the trench lighting seems to disappear into it…

Inlaid with circles of stainless steel, what could have been an indistinct expanse of polished concrete floor is broken up and given texture, without sacrificing simplicity. The design and palette are echoed in the exterior treatment, with a black stainless steel ribbon enveloping the façade, giving presence to a building that was previously a simple white box. This ribbon also forms the boundary of the car-park which in turn is paved with the same circle-embedded concrete as the interior.

Lighting is used to optimum effect in this design. Bearing graceful stripes of mirrored steel, the Perspex screens are both transparent and reflective, casting interesting shadows, permitting the flow of light, and creating a mood at once surreal and understated, an effect enhanced by the reflectiveness of the surface finishes. Integral LED lights in the steel rails directs attention to the hanging garments, accentuating texture, and literally highlighting the beauty and sensuality of the Alberta Ferretti collection.
